Prayer and Spirituality

As an ecumenical and inclusive community, we welcome all kinds of people, of all ages and lifestyles, with unconditional love and acceptance.  Working together in healing, we explore more just ways of living, and work and pray towards justice and peace, and the integrity of creation.

Journeying together in spirituality, we explore personal empowerment and the diversity of spiritual paths within the Christian ethos of the House.

The residential and non-residential staff form the core of our community and we meet for regular prayer, work and celebration.  The creativity of our liturgy is a special feature of our prayer at Holy Rood House and the Garden Chapel of Sophia is always open for personal space and prayer.  Some Holy Rood House liturgy is published in 'Wild Goose Publications'.

Prayer is offered, as a community in our chapel.

No religious obligation or expectation is laid upon guests at any time.

The Directors, Elizabeth and Stanley Baxter, and other members of the community are available to be alongside guests in their individual journeys.

Holy Rood House offers excellent facilities for personal retreat or study with a broad contemporary library of spiritual, devotional, theological and therapeutic books.

Study bedrooms and personal support are also available.
